2011: Some of the facts as I see...
Dear Friends,
After a week long break, I came back to Mysore yesterday, and when I logged into my Facebook account, I saw a message from my senior friend asking me if I am going to write a blog this year end also. It came as a realization that it has been a year since I wrote my last blog. Frankly speaking, I had completely forgotten about the existence of my Blog page, and needless to say I had not planned for writing another blog. But the message from my friend made me to plan for writing one. As we are already into the year end, what will be a better article than recollecting some of the events of the concluding year?
As a year comes to an end, most of us say “Another Year Passed By”, or “How fast this year went”, or “One more year of our life span has been spent”. Even I also utter these words, but internally I see it as one more milestone in the pursuit of my goals, improvements in life, my own changing visions towards life. Without getting more philosophical, I will get into my business in hand.
2011 was the year in which “The Bachelor Boy” Salman Khan continued his dominance on Bollywood with two runaway hits “Ready” and “Bodyguard”. After delivering the all time hit last year in Dabangg, there is no looking back for this Handsome Hunk. But his tryst with Bachelorhood continues and so is mine. That’s the only resemblance I share with the Reigning Superstar of Bollywood. For me, this year also the search was on and though my Parents and I had assumed the target was near but that was not the case. Needless to say, the search continues, and hoping for luck in New Year .
2011 was the year when India won the World Cup under the stewardship of Dhoni. Though I was Happy with the result, but I was more Happy when India made it to Finals of 2003 edition as it was under challenging conditions. This time it was in India and it was like “Win on Flat Pitches” which I don’t enjoy much. Also I felt sad for my Hero Dravid as he missed the chance of having his hand on the World Cup. During the beginning of the year, after not so good series in South Africa, critics had started writing his Cricket obituary. To add to the woes, he was disowned by the club in IPL auctions which represented his beloved hometown and also was undervalued in auction. But as mentioned by himself The “Creaky Terminator” was back and that too with a Bang. The quest for regaining the glory begun where it was left, in a minefield like Sabina Park pitch. Dravid chose the toughest pitch to prove to the World what he is and what he is still capable. When the partisan fans, record savvy media and almost the whole Cricketing world was mad after 100th century of his teammate, the Gentle Giant kept on piling centuries in England, against whom the rest of our Batsmen and Bowlers were clueless. It was a literal contest between “Dravid and Goliath(England Team)”. India lost the No. 1 position in Test Cricket but “The WALL” stood tall amongst the ruins. Clueless selectors brought him back to limited over versions of Cricket where he left his mark in his first and last T20 appearance by hitting three consecutive sixes. He bid adieu to ODIs with a well made Half Century and to the Standing Ovation from the crowd and Handshakes from the rival team members. During the latter half of the Year he climbed the Mount 13K in Tests and also touched a new level of Glory when he delivered one of the Best speeches on Cricket on the occasion of “Bradman Oration” in Australia. Thanks to Dravid, his comeback has reassured my faith in perseverance, hardwork, and most importantly patience towards success. I have always believed in “Sadhanege Beku Sahane” (Achievement needs Patience) and to my own career this year I added some armory in the form of PMP (Project Management Professional) and made rapid progress in attaining one more. I am looking forward to attain the same in the new year .
2011 was the year when My belief in Mahatma Gandhi received some dent after reading the fact in detail that he manipulated the Congress Vote on who will be the India’s first Prime Minister of India in 1947. After coming to know that the majority was towards Sardar Vallabbhai Patel, Mahatma intervened and asked Sardar to withdraw so that his favorite associate Pt Nehru would get the chance to sit on the Prime Minister Throne. But look at the irony, my belief in Gandhism was in fact strengthened by another Gandhian named Anna Hazare. The way Anna mobilized the whole country in his crusade against corruption was exemplary and Mahatma himself would have felt proud watching from heavens. Even the great Einstein might be smiling, as he was the one who advocated that Gandhian principles will succeed all the times than his own infallible E=mc2.
2011 was also the year when it was proved once again that you can win over either your own men or opposition only through smile, affection, peace and friendliness. In August 2011, the Chief Minister Chair of Karnataka has got its respect back when the ever smiling Sadananda Gowda took oath as Chief Minister of the state. This year’s Assembly session was smooth and healthy and it happened this way for the first time since BJP came to the power in the southern state. Mr. Gowda is totally opposite to his predecessor in his conduct and is already winning support from all parts be it his own party members or his party High Command or his rivals. Such is the power of Smile. Continuing the same topic of smile, one of my best friends Ravikirana (Ravi) who can be rightly termed as “The Smiling Assassin” got married this month and since then his smile has got doubled in intensity. My one more Buddy Arvind Patil who seldom smiles also got married in January. I attended both the marriages and the moments will be cherished forever.
This year, I also travelled to many places – Lakkundi, Agumbe, Kigga, RishyaShrunga Temple, Sringeri, Shimoga, Udipi, Khumbashi, Kundapura and Maravante. Among these, the bike travel to Agumbe and Kigga from Sringeri is the most memorable one. Thanks to Ravi and his uncle. Watching the sunset from the World Famous Sunset spot in Augmbe, I bet, no one can forget.
If you are still reading you are entitled to receive my sincere Thanks. In the coming new Year, I will continue my pursuit of achieving the goals and ambitions which I have in mind. I will look to continue treading the path of improvement, path leading from indecisiveness to decisiveness, path with more of fuel named confidence, and path towards making life more meaningful.
To conclude, I wish you and your loved ones a very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2012.
Thank you,
Chetan
P.S – To my friend who requested this blog, if the writing is not up to your expectations please “Maaph Kardo”, will look to improve next time.
