Woh Jab Yaad Aaye, Bahut Yaad Aaye...
Meri Awaaz Suno Kehte hue Chale Aaye,
Dil Ki Awaaz sunake sabko behlaye,
Aap Jab Yaad Aaye, Bahut Yaad Aaye.
Mausam Be-Imaan hui, Saawan Jhoomke aayi,
Vadiyan Daaman bani, Raaste Baaye Pehlaye,
Aap Is tarah Gaaye, Ki Aap bahut Yaad Aaye.
Aasman Khul Gayin, Choudhavin ka Chand aa gaye,
Bhawarein Gungunayee, Baharein phool Barasaye,
Aisi gayaki aapki, ki aap bahut yaad aaye
Junglee ko Nachake Gaye, Dev ko Jhulake Gaye,
Johnny se Maalish Karvaye, Gopi ke liye Bhajan gaye,
Sari Duniya Jhoom Uthi, Sabko Aap bahut yaad aaye
Dard-e-Dil Dard-e-Jigar Jo Dil Mein Jagake Gaye,
Har Phikr ko dhuyen mein Udake Gaye,
Na jaane Kahan chale gaye, aur app bahut yaad aaye
Hazaron Gayak Aaye, Lakhon Geet Sunaye,
Lekin Karishma Aap Jaisa koi Na Kar Paye,
Mohd. Rafi Sab, aap Sach mein bahut Yaad aaye.
July 31 is the Death Anniversary of Legendary, One and Only King of Melody Mohd. Rafi. It has been 30 years since the great man died. What I can say is only his physical presence is not there, but he is pretty much alive in innumerable songs he has sung. For billions of fans he is still fresh in ears, for millions of Singer aspirants he is the inspiration, and I can say with a bit of exaggeration that there is no single moment in world where Rafi's song is not being aired/heard/listened. Such is the power of singing magician and such are the magic songs he has produced from his melodious voice. Today is the world full of gadgets and now the song is just a product which is digitized using technology, there is substance but no soul. That makes Rafi even more memorable as every song of his touches the soul. I am damn sure the ages will go, but Rafi's voice will stay forever.
In an attempt to pay "Shruddanjali" to the great singer, and even greater human being, "Woh Jab Yaad Aaye, Bahut Yaad Aaye...”
